An interview with Björn Knutsson, Brand Manager at Wellspect HealthCare. Björn has worked at Wellspect HealthCare for seven years.
Can you describe a typical day at work?
It really depends on what is going on at the moment. One day I am at a congress working in a booth promoting our products and services to physicians and nurses. Another day I spend all day in the office in a creative workshop trying to come up with a new product. The third day I may spend the morning answering emails and compiling data on our competitors and the afternoon visiting an ad agency to discuss the latest campaign. A very variable job, and that’s also the beauty of it.
What are your responsibilities as Brand Manager?
I make sure that our urology products are marketed as efficiently and correctly as possible, and that we always have a good offer for our customers - both regarding products and services. I am responsible for the marketing aspect of different projects and pay special attention to our competitors’ actions around the globe. I try to be the voice of the users and customers internally and make sure their perspectives are always present in everything we do.
What are the most important skills for some in your role to have?
To be perceptive and analytical. It is also important to be social and outgoing, with an inner drive to constantly improve our offering to those dependent on our products. A knack for communication in all forms and some language skills will not hurt either.
What is challenging about your work?
To make people want a product that nobody really wants. I have to keep up with external competition by trying to be better, smarter and more effective. It is all about making sure our external focus and the needs of our users are not lost in the buzz of our own daily business.
What inspires you?
Making a difference. Seeing how my input can change things in our products. It is also inspiring to create good communication, working together, having fun, with highly competent and likeable colleagues.
Why do you make a difference?
I make a difference by understanding, internally communicating and promoting the needs of our users and customers so Wellspect HealthCare will be able to provide better product and services. I hope this will improve the Quality of Life for our users.
What is it like socially where you work?
It is very including, very open, dynamic and interactive. Everyone works for the group and we support and help each other out whenever it is needed.
What do you love about your work?
The people I get to meet and work with; the variation and wide range of tasks I get to perform; the places I get to travel to and experience; the users I get to help and the customers I get to please.
What is your best memory of working at Wellspect HealthCare?
It is probably the internal launches of either LoFric Sense or LoFric Origo – both of them very fun and rewarding after long and difficult projects.
